Treat, don’t trick, your sweet tooth

Drown your taste buds in some chocolate this weekend (and through Nov. 4), as the Toronto Chocolate Festival takes the city by storm in what we like to consider adult Halloween (minus the dressing-up and adding gourmet chocolates). Events include Chocolate High Tea at the King Edward Hotel, where tea is paired with chocolate and pastries.

Help save the world, one film at a time

The 13th Annual Environmental Film Festival continues this weekend (Oct. 10-14) at TIFF Bell Lightbox with a plethora of films about the environment. Film topics range from wildlife to climate change, public health and farming, and include a few children’s films. Sit in with industry professionals as they hold workshops and discussion panels about film production, distribution and funding. In addition, there is a school program focused on environmental education that aims to inspire kids and youth.

Get your ROM on

Starting this Friday and running until Nov. 30, explore the ROM while sipping on some cocktails and jamming to some beats. DJs TIGERBLOOD and Simon Jain will entertain while you taste some of Toronto’s craft beers from local breweries like Mill Street, Steam Whistle and Amsterdam. Fidel Gastro's will also be there filming his new Travel and Escape reality show, Rebel Without a Kitchen.

Halloween take over: haunted house season

Thanksgiving is over and now it’s time for the scariest season of all: Halloween. This weekend marks the opening of the Powerhouse of Terror, located in what is considered to be one of Toronto’s most haunted buildings. Attractions include a variety of hauntings and scary side attractions. Be advised, it’s not for the faint of heart.

Spend your weekend crawling through art

In a place that has no shortage of talent, the Yonge Lawrence Village is celebrating local artists with an art walk, now through Nov. 1. Original artwork will be displayed at various locations throughout the Yonge Lawrence Village. You are also invited to vote on your favourite piece for the “People’s Choice” award.
