You may remember the last few times we here at postcity.com have sung the praises of made-in-Toronto clothing label Muttonhead. And with good reason. The clothing line, in the few years since its 2009 inception, has made a big name in the competitive Toronto market as a high quality and sustainable clothing manufacturer with classic, utilitarian appeal and plenty of conscience too. Not only do the head designers, Mel and Meg Sinclair and Paige Greene, favour “slow design” over fast fashion, each Muttonhead piece is produced locally, allowing the design team to ensure quality and to guarantee fair-trade and sweatshop-free practices.
This past weekend, the Muttonhead team opened their first design studio and brick and mortar shop. Located at 337 Roncesvalles Avenue in the west end, the store held launch parties all weekend long in order to celebrate this huge milestone, and to also spread the news among discerning Toronto shoppers.
One of my favourite pieces available in store and as part of their Spring Summer 2014 collection is the reverse drifter long sleeve shirt in natural and grey. As is the case with all Muttonhead clothes, the reverse drifter T is unisex, well-made, and incredibly cozy. The garment is produced from dual knit 100% cotton jersey and features flat locked seams. The fully reversible long sleeve shirt has a light grey body with a darker grey neckline and hemlines. It's perfect for the unpredictable spring weather, whether you choose to wear it on its own or layered under a light anorak.
Available for $97 at Muttonhead, 337 Roncesvalles Ave,
