Tomorrow the month made for twins kicks off

The zodiac sign Gemini enters its course on May 21. Those born under this sign are said to have a dual nature, symbolized by twins. This inspired us to take a look at Toronto’s most famous duos and get the inside scoop on what it’s really like to have an other half.

Dean & Dan Caten – The fashion designers behind dsquared2, a line for men, women and kids
What is it like to be a twin? We have a unique bond that no one can understand. We have a strong mental connection and know each other deeply. Sometimes no words are necessary. We can feel if something is going good or bad, even if we’ve never talked about it.
Do you ever pretend to be one another? We loved to exchange! Our teachers got mad, and our schoolmates always laughed so hard. And you know what? It was so funny! Unfortunately, today we cannot do the same.

Jia Panpan & Jia Yueyue – The toronto zoo’s panda keepers dish out details about the twin panda cubs
How can you tell them apart? Jia Panpan is about 25 per cent bigger than Jia Yueyue and has more brown fur than her in his light patches. Jia Yueyue’s eye patches come in a little at the bottom toward her nose.
Do they fight? There are lots of playful wrestling matches. Jia Panpan is more often the aggressor. He is not afraid to throw his weight around to get an advantage, and it’s not uncommon to hear Jia Yueyue whining because he is on top of her, play biting her. After a good wrestle, they often fall asleep snuggling.

Jordan & Josh Meron – Ultimate frisbee players on the Ultimate canada mixed national team
What tricks did you play on people? We would tell people that we had telepathic abilities.
Do you have a special twin language? We know what each other is thinking. We don’t have to talk, we have a silent communication and know how the other is feeling.
Have you experienced sympathy pain? One time Josh was playing at a tournament and I was at home, but I knew something bad happened. It turned out he broke his ankle.

Sam & Cailli Beckerman – Fashion designers turned bloggers and founders of the Beckerman Blog
Have you ever impersonated each other? Yes, but we didn’t do it until we were in university. We would sign each other into class if we were running late for attendance. The teachers never found out, but our friends were always giggling in class because they knew what we were up to.
Do you have a secret twin language? For sure! We had our own twin language until we were three years old and didn’t talk to anyone but each other. Now we can look at each other and know what the other is thinking. We were womb mates so we go way back.
