There’s something about food in cones that always delights. Maybe it’s the easy all-in-one package, or maybe it’s the nostalgia it induces. Check out two new spots putting their own twist on conical grub: Yummy Cone and Eva’s Original Chimneys.
Yummy Cone is all savoury. The new Thornhill eatery turns out pizza wrapped up in a cone, with all the toppings turned inwards. Pepperoni, sausage, ’shrooms and mozza? Got ’em. It’s all about hands-on and mess-free.
Over at Eva’s food truck, things get far sweeter. After owners Kristin and Justin Butler married, they hit the road for a year, visiting family in Hungary. There, they were taken with kürtoskalács, a traditional treat Justin’s grandma Eva would always speak of.

Fast-forward and now the duo is turning out the so-called chimney cakes. These Hungarian-style pastries come rolled in cinnamon and cane sugar and are filled with the likes of homemade apple preserves, Nutella and vanilla soft-serve.
