Spotted: The wave of unusual serving formats washing over Toronto’s restaurants

With the arrival of Toronto’s very first, um, Poop Café (which serves ice cream in miniature toilets), we sought out other local spots serving dishes in atypical dishware.

First up is Yuzu No Hana, located at 236 Adelaide St. W. downtown. As part of its omakase menu, the Japanese eatery dishes out soup in none other than a teapot. Diners reach into the depths of the vessel typically reserved for tea (or beer) and emerge with spoons full of mushrooms and shrimp. Cold tea this sure ain’t.

Meanwhile in Scarborough, at 4186 Finch Ave. E., Royaltea is serving bubble tea in incredibly cute light bulbs as a dine-in option only. The tea house is known for its brewed tea drinks, and its latest creation is the traditional milk tea with tapioca pearls. A matcha version is also available. Anyone with interest in sipping on a bright idea best head this way.
