Remember when we told you about this cool menswear boutique that opened in the Junction last spring called Gerhard? Of course you do. And if you don't, we're chuffed to announce shop owner Langton Willms has been killing it since putting down his roots. One major reason for his success is his local-first mandate, which his stylish fellow Junction denizens support. Willms stocks several labels that are made and designed in Toronto—one of which is Bay Cooper.
The venture was started in 2012 by two Toronto folks: Mystica Cooper, who has a knack for making charming neckwear and pocket squares by hand in classic hues and prints, and Robert Lendrum, an illustrator who handles sales and oversees the brand's aesthetic. What makes Cooper and Lendrum's ties so special?
1) Just look at them.
2) They measure 2.25 inches at their widest points, so they're perfectly slim.
3) They're made in limited edition series.
There's something to be said about their clever approach to branding: Each tie comes with illustrated and written instructions on how to give a secret handshake to a man you might spot wearing the same tie. Kind of like the way Tyler Durden's guys all acknowledged each other in Fight Club.
Kind of, anyway.
