Yes, yes, I wrote about pocket squares not too long ago, and admittedly, I've been on something of an accessories bent lately. But if you ran into a company online that makes stylish pocket squares out of foraged wood, could you resist not telling, well, everyone about it? Exactly.
Relatively new to the men's clothing scene, this Mother Nature-meets-menswear movement has been gaining traction of late, and it's all thanks to certain eco-minded start-ups like Baffi, as well as these wooden bow tie guys from Washington (but that's for another time).
Baffi ("moustache" in Italian) was started by three Toronto men (who've preferred to keep their surnames out of it for now): Michael, Ayman and Vince. Menswear fanatics themselves, the trio got inspired to create their wares when one of the boys suggested that Vince make pocket squares from wood foraged locally. Says Michael, "Vince knows how to work well with wood, and he has since he was a kid in his dad's shop in Barrie. It worked out perfectly."
Each piece is conveniently light yet durable, and perfect for making a subtle statement. Colourways range from "mellow yellow" to "porpora" (or purple, for the layman).
For those of you tying the knot soon, these guys offer wedding packages for custom made pieces. Oh, and word to the wise: Keep that Zippo in the other pocket. You just can't be too careful.
Prices range from $30 to $44, available online at Baffi Collection.
