Youth movement
It’s a big deal ’round these parts when Gord Downie of The Tragically Hip fame, collaborates with seminal roots-rockers The Sadies. They first got together for a charitable endeavour in 2006 and now they’ve made the big announcement of an impending new album. The self-titled and slightly awkward sounding Gord Downie, The Sadies and The Conquering Son will be released via Arts&Crafts records on April 15. And, yes, the group will be featured during this summer’s Field Trip festival. Check out the first single “Crater,” it is far from what one might expect with a youthful, punk vibe.

Legendary roots band Skydiggers have wasted little time capitalizing on the momentum created by their 25th anniversary events that ran throughout 2013, culminating in a special concert at the Winter Garden Theatre. Now, music fans outside of the Toronto area can experience that magic by checking out the Skydiggers' Slow Burning Fire tour that kicks off in Winnipeg, Man. on May 2 and includes a date in Toronto at Hugh's Room on June 6. The tour features the return of one of the founding members of the band, Peter Cash. Check out one of their classic tunes “What Do You See” featuring Cash below.
