This month, we take a closer look at the retail scene in a neighbourhood that was formerly something of a no man's land: the Junction.

It’s apparent to everyone walking through the doors of the Beau & Bauble that they’re entering another world entirely, a world of whimsical fantasy that’s been built based on vivacious owner Kate Elia’s imagination.

“It’s meant to be a magical room,” says Elia. “It draws in people who still have that childlike curiosity.” The shop’s eye-catching jewellery selection has a wide range of prices, appealing to young teens and adults, from $10 earrings to decadent $250 necklaces.

Snatch up exceptional pieces from local lines Biko and Michelle Ross. Biko’s bracelets and necklaces have tribal or Egyptian influences but a thoroughly modern sensibility in colour and shape. Meanwhile, Ross’s delicate necklaces, featuring tiny charms, are perfect for layering.
