Considering it's the last full week of August, there was plenty of restaurant news in Toronto to digest. We found out that we'll be getting a little more Loka, tiki and Japanese this year and possibly a little less Rock Lobster. As well, Toronto is ankle-deep in cold pressed juice. Just Opened
- After an extended renovation period the east-end outpost of Triple A Bar is opening this weekend.
- Bloor West has a new spot called Grey Tiger. According to their Twitter bio their focus is "bevvies and plant-based snacks."
- The total juice-ification of Toronto continues with The Grow Op opening at 222 Ossington Ave.
Coming Soon
- Dave Mothersall has a location — 620 Queen St. W. — for Loka, his crowd-funding supported restaurant.
- We have all the details on Kiu, the Japanese restaurant that some of the Ramen Isshin owners are opening in Markham.
- Hopefully by the end of this year Toronto will have a full-out tiki bar restaurant as Vancouver's Shameful Tiki Room opens an outpost.

Changes and Other News
- The 2015 edition of Awestruck goes today at Mississauga’s Celebration Square. Our own Suresh Doss is one of the organizers and James Cunningham of Eat St. fame will be hosting. This is your biggest and best chance to check out some of the GTA's top food trucks including FeasTO, Che Baby and Jerk Brothers. The event runs from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.
- As we reported this week, the Leslieville location of Rock Lobster is for sale.
- After two decades one of Queen Street's most recognizable clubs, The Velvet Underground is closing. According to NOW Magazine's coverage, the Liberty Entertainment Group plans to turn it into a wine bar.
- NOW Magazine reports that Parkdale's Geraldine has closed.
- Kirei Sushi + Bar at 81 Church St. has closed.
