This luxury home, with its beautifully landscaped grounds, is one of the many listings that benefited from Toronto’s red-hot real estate market this April.
Reminiscent of West Coast and Hawaiian architecture, the house stands out amongst other Bridle Path properties because of its subtle design. It doesn't try to make a statement of grandeur with huge columns that tower over the landscape. Instead, focus is pulled to the stunning Zen gardens designed by landscape architect Janet Rosenberg, which contribute to the real wow factor of the residence — the backyard oasis.
Sotheby’s International Realty Canada sold the estate in 22 days, and it officially went off the market on May 1st. The home, which neighbours former media mogul Conrad Black’s estate at 26 Park Lane Circle, had however been listed on and off the market with other brokerages since 2013. The original asking price was $15,800,000, later reduced to $12,988,000, before just recently dropping to $10,250,000.
While the vast majority of properties in-area are approximately two acres, this two-storey home sits on 3.38 acres of land on a south facing, gently sloped lot. The expansive backyard eden resembles a private resort with an in-ground pool, integrated hot tub, and fully equipped cabana with kitchen. Plus, it was sold with the backyard fully furnished.

With 10,500 square feet of living space, the impressive spread boasts six bedrooms, a series of collapsible glass walls that open to the outdoors and heated stone flooring throughout. A walk down the corridor of the north wing reveals double entry doors that lead to a completely soundproof octagonal shaped home theatre that seats 12.
Originally built in 1952, the house underwent a major renovation in 2002 and the master bedroom wing was added on six years later. Hidden away from the rest of the house, the master suite comes with its own private deck and hot tub — because why share with the kids?

But for the buyers, a local family with businesses across the GTA, the neighbourhood was this home’s biggest selling feature. They wanted to be in close proximity to some of the best schools, and living in the heart of the exclusive Bridle Path enclave means they'll be a short distance away from a number of reputable private and public schools.
Side note: 24 Park Lane Circle, the vacant 2.8 acre lot severed from Conrad Black's 10-acre property next door, was also just sold at auction on May 1st for $5 million.
