Midtown to get third Banh Mi Boys location this spring

Their sign went up last week, but residents of the Yonge and Eg neighbourhood still have a few weeks to wait for their own Banh Mi Boys location. They are aiming to add their name to the busy restaurant row, between Eglinton and Broadway, that includes the uptown Mars Diner and Grazie by March 30.

The restaurant operated by brothers David, Philip and Peter Chau opened their first location at Queen and Spadina in 2011. Apparently, Torontonians took to their model of quick-serve, Asian fusion with a casual atmosphere well enough that they were able to open a second storefront at 399 Yonge St. in 2013.

David Chau tells me by email that they plan to serve the same menu of banh mi, tacos, steamed bao and sides (like the kimchi fries) as at the two other locations. “We may carry a location only special,” he writes, “but it’s not decided yet."

The sign-of-the-times icing on this cake is that the boys are replacing a Black’s store at 2365 Yonge St.
