Lunch Pick: The Breakwich at Uncle Betty’s hits the brunch spot

Uncle Betty’s is uptown’s answer to the Lakeview. Situated on a corner of Yonge Street with plenty of patio space, this kitschy spot always delivers on the comfort food front. Hit it up midday and you’ll find patrons diving into everything from incredibly hearty salads (the kind Elaine would be down with) to a never-ending breakfast.

Our pick is the Breakwich (from $5.50), made for those who never tire of the simple duo of egg-on-a-bun. Here, the combination is taken up a notch or two, thanks to the use of a homemade Dreesen’s donut instead of the trad English muffin. Made by their so-called Donut Robot, the old fashioned round is just the right level of sweet, arriving filled with a simple egg and cheddar omelet. Add meat (sausage, bacon or peameal), tomato or avocado (our pick) if you're looking for just a touch more substance and pair with a side salad. Just be sure you get there before 11:30 a.m. to order this puppy.
