Located in a tiny space on Dundas West, Porchetta & Co. is known as the spot in the 6 to grab a porchetta sandwich. Chef-owner Nick auf der Mauer has more than perfected the ’wich, with its heady blend of pork shoulder, prosciutto, pork belly and crackling. Its eternal cool-kid status — fans include Pharrell — has led to a soon-to-open secondary location on King West. But for those who are familiar with the namesake offering, P&Co. also turns out tasty specials that are well worth their salt.
The fried chicken club ($9.45) sees a mountain of fried chicken piled atop crispy slices of smoked bacon. Iceberg lettuce and rounds of dill pickle help balance out the heaviness from the proteins, with mayo and plenty of fiery hot sauce completing the sandwich. While this exact combo may not be available during your visit, fried chicken regularly makes an appearance on the specials board. Best bet is to check out their Instagram for mouthwatering updates.
