With high temps finally here, being in or next to the water is imperative. Fortunately, Mariposa Cruises has really hit the nail on the head with its brunch cruise. For the remainder of the summer, aquaphiles can head down to Queens Quay and step aboard a retro showboat for a unique experience.
The ship’s the main dining deck is fit with large picture windows for gazing out mid-brunch, while the open-air upper deck has wee bistro tables, a bar and a spectacular view of the Six.
With brunch served buffet-style over the course of a two-hour cruise ($50), intrepid boaters can chomp on a variety of eats that suit both carnivores and vegetarians alike.
Start with items like the wheat berry salad studded with peppers and cuke, or the penne salad with feta and black olives. Scrambled eggs, bangers and hickory-smoked bacon round out the more classic items, as do batons of cinnamon French toast.
The pièce de résistance is the hand-carved roast beef that's been aged for 28 days and is served with horseradish and grainy mustard. Finish off with a danish or two before heading to that upper deck.
Do note: there's also a weekday lunch version if you manage to sneak away from your desk for a cool two hours.
