According to city records, chef Grant van Gameren is opening a new eating establishment in Parkdale, in the space formerly occupied by Salvador Darling at 1237 Queen St. W.

The existence of the upcoming business was confirmed using easily accessible information from the City of Toronto’s website. When contacted about it via text message, van Gameren did not confirm or deny the new project.

“You know,” he wrote, “your invasiveness is getting super annoying.”

Van Gameren did not comment further, but a new employee to van Gameren’s team wrote about the upcoming business on Facebook yesterday. According to the post, the new spot will open in March as an “incredible bar concept.”

This marks a period of relatively quick expansion for van Gameren. Last month, we reported that he’s also at work on another new restaurant in Kensington market.
