In the Millbank Ave. and Glenayr Rd. area of Forest Hill, several modern remakes have gone up over the past few years. But despite these demolition patterns, the vined stucco exterior of the three-storey estate at 37 Millbank Ave. still stands immune — and now, it is up for sale.
Originally built in 1933, this home’s former owners (of over three decades) oversaw several extensive renovations to the interior, but left the original hardwood flooring, doors, and windows of the house intact.

Although the home has only been listed for five days, over 35 people attended the open house on Thursday morning — a great turnout according to Roman Gofman, sales rep for Forest Hill Real Estate Inc., who anticipates the home will be scooped up fast.
But what kind of buyers will the house attract? Gofman said the home will appeal to well-established families who will be able to afford and appreciate some of the house’s more sophisticated features.

The main floor of the six-bedroom, five-bathroom house includes a wood-panelled library with built-in custom bookshelves, french doors and California shutters. On the lower level, a glass encased wine cellar can hold up to 3,500 bottles of chardonnay or merlot, and is surrounded by its own wine-tasting room with speakers. The lower level also boasts its own rec room and sauna. The backyard comes with an inground pool and jacuzzi, as well as a raised deck for entertaining while overlooking the Cedarvale Park ravine.
Although the estate does not have a garage, it has a gated driveway on the side that can hold two cars comfortably.
It is within walking distance to a number of schools, both private and public, like Upper Canada College, Bishop Strachan, Forest Hill Public and Forest Hill Collegiate, so this estate’s future buyers will also have their choice of school and denomination, if need be.
