Evergreen Brick Works hosts a celebrity chef infused rodeo and BBQ this fall

Evergreen Brick Works conjures up a lot of bucolic images but they’re aiming to go full-on rustic this fall with the Urban Rodeo and BBQ as their annual fundraiser. The event takes place Sept. 27 and tickets are on-sale at two price points, $150 and $250.

“We wanted to create a fun event. As you know, Toronto is saturated with all kinds of culinary events and activities. We wanted something that was uniquely ours,” says Arlene Stein, Evergreen’s program director of special events.

The BBQ portion of the event will feature 40 of Canada’s top chefs teaming up to create some rip-roaring, open flame-ready delights. They have already attracted chefs such as Buca’s Rob Gentile, The Drake Hotel’s Alex Feswick as well as Montreal’s Danny Smiles, Vancouver’s Ned Bell, Ottawa’s Steve Mitton, Todd Perrin from Newfounland and many more. There’s also going to be a full lineup of musical acts.

There’s no actual rodeo planned, which saves attendees from the frightening prospect of rodeo clowns, but the Royal Winter Fair is going to host an event called the Road to the Royal, providing a bucking bronco, lassoing lessons, and cowboys to do horse tricks. Oh, and of course, there will also be rodeo princesses.

It aims to be a lot of light-hearted fun and is all for a good cause. In addition to the admission and attractions, you can also help out by entering the live silent auction which has more than 50 items including restaurant deals and more.

“Evergreen is a national charity working in land stewardship and restoration, but we also do kid eco-literacy and food programs. The funds will go toward food literacy programs," says Stein.

As mentioned, you can get in and enjoy the event for $150, but there's a VIP option for a hundred dollars more that allows for first entrance, a private reception and a meet and greet with the chefs.
