Celestin on Mount Pleasant is rebranding as Bar Mar with a Peruvian menu

Known for their classic French cuisine and prix fixe menu options, Celestin on Mt. Pleasant will be closing its doors and reopening with an entirely new concept, design, and name: Bar Mar.

Bar Mar will have a more relaxed feel, and the menu will switch from “French with flare” to “a Peruvian party in your mouth,” especially with many of the new menu options served “sharing plate” style.

Owner Ivan Tarazona hopes that rebranding the restaurant will attract new clientele who are interested in experiencing a modern twist on Peruvian cuisine, while enjoying an elegant space to socialize and meet with friends. According to Tarazona, the atmosphere will feel more cool and casual but he promises the return of buck-a-shuck oysters every Tuesday.

He uses organic, free-range ingredients in all of his dishes and he plans to introduce new cocktails like the Pisco Sour. The ceviche will be a staple on Bar Mar’s new menu with yellow chili peppers from Peru to bring a little heat to this cold dish. Opening in May, check out Bar Mar at 623 Mount Pleasant.
