Big Opening: Inside the new Queen West vintage shop Pearls and Pockets

Vintage-inspired vetements on Queen West

Pearls and Pockets draws from the classic beauty of Brigitte Bardot and Grace Kelly, a mixture of true vintage and new styles that embrace femininity while remaining fun.

A strong part of its day wear selections is made up of local designers like Dotty Dress Studio, Willowmore, Celia MMXIV and Pam Stevenson, while internationally renowned labels such as Virgos Lounge and Frock & Frill make up its vintage-inspired evening wear pieces.

But among Pearls and Pockets’ best sellers is its own line BoutiQue, a collaboration between owner Martha Bernard and her friend from Bali, Nyoman.

New this month is a beautiful polka-dot maxi-skirt in a rich Sateen fabric ($120), easily styled with their navy halter neck ($55) that shows off the shoulders beautifully.

And if you’re looking to make a splash at this month’s TIFF, you can find a hand-beaded showstopper gown for under $450 to dazzle on the carpet.
