Fatal robbery at Yonge and Eglinton
Three male suspects were recently arrested and charged for robbery and second-degree murder in the Yonge and Eglinton area.
On Dec. 30, 2015, at 12:30 a.m., police received a call for a fight near Lola Road.
It was reported that three suspects got into an altercation with two male victims. One victim received serious injuries and the three suspects fled the area in a light-coloured four-door sedan.
Detective Sergeant Kevin Leahy confirmed that the two victims were unknown to the assailants and that all five males had been drinking.
“[The victims] were walking towards their vehicle, to head home for the night, and the other three individuals I believe were arriving to attend a bar in the area. It was just a chance meet on Lola Rd.”
The 25-year-old vicitm has since succumbed to his injuries resulting from what police now believe to be a robbery. The second victim suffered minor injuries.
Det.-Sgt. Leahy told Post City that police were able to identify the assailants using surveillance from local businesses and eyewitness accounts.
On April 13, two male suspects, 29 and 26 years old of Toronto, were arrested. They were each charged with robbery and second-degree murder. A third man, 31-years-old, was also charged on April 20 with robbery and second-degree murder.
Police arrest suspect for series of bank robberies on St. Clair
Toronto Police Service officers have arrested and charged a male suspect wanted in connection with a series of bank robberies in Midtown Toronto.
Between Jan. 12 and March 19, a male suspect robbed 10 banks in Toronto, including four on St. Clair Avenue West. In each robbery, the suspect posed as a customer until he reached the teller, presented a note indicating he was armed, then made a demand for money.
On April 8, investigators arrested a 19-year-old male suspect from Toronto. He was charged with 10 counts of robbery and disguise with intent, two counts of robbery with an offensive weapon, forcible confinement and assault with a weapon.
Male charged for second-degree murder in Yorkville
A male suspect has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder after a shooting in Yorkville took the life of one 18-year-old male victim from Toronto.
On April 13, at approximately 8:05 p.m., Toronto Police Service (TPS) officers responded to an altercation near Yonge Street and Asquith Avenue.
Once on scene, police located a victim without vital signs. He was taken to hospital and later succumbed to his injuries. The victim’s identity has been posted on the TPS website.
On April 17, TPS arrested and charged a 22-year-old male suspect from Toronto with second-degree murder.
