Shop Crawl: Lavish and luxurious finds in Liberty Village

From designer duds to handmade soaps, the Liberty Market Building is a shopaholic’s haven

For this month’s niche and specialized shopping we head to Liberty Village and find three boutiques, all in the Liberty Market Building, worth recommending.

Fashion with flare
When Daniela Rella was building her boutique, the very first item she purchased was a red mannequin, which she nicknamed Naked Red. So when it came time to open her first men’s and women’s clothing store, the name on the door was a no-brainer. Canadian brands dot Naked Red’s collection, including Bionic, Gentle Fawn, Brave Leather and Nella Bella and more. “Everyone has their own style. I make sure to work pieces into wardrobes with purpose and flare,” says Rella.

Sweet suds
It’s easy to mistake Demo Soap for a candy shop, but you don’t want to eat these treats. Owner Thomas Tam handcrafts bars of soap into one-of-a-kind items from doughnuts to cakes, hand grenades and fortune cookies and even little animals. Demo Soap also offers soap-making workshops for customers.

Mature and modern
Owner Emily Dobbie rebranded her Vocado boutique to V.O.C, as a reflection of her more refined and cultured esthetic. That mature and modern feel is evidenced by the brands currently stocked for the fall/winter collection, such as a matching crop top and skirt set from For Love and Lemons set in blush and the versatile Velvet Erykah Jacket in black.
