Lunch Pick: The Moroccan sweet potato lunch box from Oats & Ivy

Downtown office workers may recognize Marina Cortese from her Oats & Ivy bike cart. Last year, the entrepreneur was oft spotted pedaling round the financial core, dishing out eats to hungry suits. Formerly her main digs, Cortese has since branched out to a brick-and-mortar location in Liberty Village, serving the same healthful options to the condo crowd. She calls her approach healthy fast food — tasty bites for those with little time to spare — and Cortese’s background in holistic nutrition speaks to her devotion to the cause.

Our pick is the Moroccan sweet potato lunch box ($10.35), one of the most popular menu options. A base of tri-coloured quinoa is tossed with roasted cauliflower and sweet potato, and a spice mix of fennel, star anise and cumin imbues the goods with some North African flavour. Steamed green beans, raw cherry tomatoes, sultana raisins and chick peas are added to the mix along with roasted red peppers, oven baked olives and micro greens — which are grown on-site. Finally, amp up your lunch box with some avocado slices, trout or chicken (from $2) and take it to the park for a dose of the great outdoors.

As for those who aren’t easily able to pop by the Village, Hurrier will deliver the goods right to your doorstep — or office lobby.
