Wanted: this Gore-Tex jacket from wings + horns

I spent this past Saturday soaking wet at an outdoor music festival, because I love music and apparently also love getting drenched for eight hours straight. I learned a truly important lesson on dressing weather appropriate. If I had worn a raincoat after seeing that it would be trickling rain all day, I might have had as much fun as the rowdy bros standing near me who had enough foresight to pack something waterproof. Instead, I spent several hours shivering under a sparsely-covered tree with 300 other concert-goers with poor planning skills, attempting to enjoy the music but mostly cursing my slippery sandals and non-waterproof polyester windbreaker.

In an imaginary world in which I am responsible, I would own a jacket coated in GORE-TEX® . To the uninitiated, GORE-TEX® is a waterproof and breathable fabric used primarily in outdoor sports utility apparel. The fabric itself is covered in tiny pores, too small for water droplets to pass through but penetrable to air particles, which makes it ideal for rainy summer days.

For their 10th anniversary, Canadian menswear brand wings + horns collaborated with Japanese outerwear label nanamica and NYC boutique hotel the Ace for a special capsule piece. Taking design inspiration from the all-weather Ace Hotel bellmen uniforms, the GORE-TEX® parka in charcoal features an extra durable 3-layer performance shell, interior and exterior pockets, taped seams to prevent leaking, and a merino hood for extra protection from the elements.
