Retail Therapy: Titika (Shops at Don Mills)

Open since 2011, Titika’s location at the Shops at Don Mills is both intimate and visually striking. Founded in 2007, Titika has quickly capitalized on its success and popularity in the activewear community and now totals eight shops in Ontario, with two in Toronto. Since 2011, Titika’s location at the Shops at Don Mills has been a hotbed of activity, due in part to its visually striking wares and engagement with the outdoor mall to hold free classes in publicly shared outdoor space.

“What makes Titika different is we're more fashion forward while being eco-friendly,” says manager Lydia Brewster-Nelson. “Our clothes are funkier, prettier, feminine and cut for a real woman’s body. Not to mention made of superior materials.”

Owner and designer Eileen Zhang has invested a large amount of time researching the right materials that not only fit the aesthetic of the brand, but also surpass its functionality. As an example, one of the materials used called supplex is a quick drying material that feels like cotton, but has 14 per cent stretch from spandex.

“Going from the office to the gym and the gym to the office—that is an important aspect of the modern woman’s lifestyle,” says Brewster-Nelson. “They need to be able to move and not feel confined in their clothes; go from one place to another quickly, but in style.”
