Broadview Hotel (home of Jilly’s strip club) bought by condo developer

The landmark corner of Queen St. E. and Broadview is changing.

Streetcar Developments announced in a statement Tuesday that they purchased the historic Broadview Hotel, also home to Jilly’s strip club, but said they will not be turning it into condos.

Although the company has established itself through the development of lofts and condos, they said their focus is to make the building something the neighbourhood "can be proud of."

“We have great affinity for the neighbourhood and we believe this building is a jewel of Riverside,” said Les Mallins, President and CEO of the Streetcar Developments.

Jilly’s lease is set to expire this year and the company said they, along with the hotel occupents, will be moving out in order to make the repairs necessary to restore the building back to its original greatness.

Streetcar's offices are in Riverside, so it was also pointed out that “this neighbourhood has a special place in our hearts,” said Mallins.
