Something men ought to know about: this perfect double-breasted blazer by Dsquared2

Last Saturday night, Canada's fashion elite gathered at the Fairmont Royal York hotel to celebrate our nation's creative achievements at the inaugural Canadian Arts and Fashion Awards. Wondering how Toronto fared? Long story short: We killed it.

North Toronto's budding textile master, Sarah Stevenson—who you'll remember from our last "Made in T.O." fashion issue—snagged the Emerging Talent honours, while Jeremy Laing took home Womenswear Designer of the Year (unsurprisingly). But DSquared2's designing duo, Dean and Dan Caten, were the real story. The identical twins (and Willowdale natives) put on a clinic, taking home two trophies: International Canadian Designer of the Year, and Outstanding Achievement.

In honour of that display of dominance (and because you've probably never seen anything quite like this), I thought I'd endorse my favourite piece from the twins' new spring/summer '14 line — this perfect double-breasted blazer. Echoing Dsquared2's aesthetic ethos — marrying cheekiness with elegance — this jacket's a tad more fitted than typical double-breasted options, which is great since you're not a stockbroker who's traveled here from 1932. It's made in Italy from 100% wool, and also rakish enough to turn heads.

But that's the beauty of a statement piece — folks will notice you, and, let's face it, you'll feel good as a result. Just add some Chelsea boots, grey trousers and a white oxford to tame the thing.

$1,990. Available online at Dsquared2.
