Yee Hong Community Wellness Foundation’s 25th Anniversary Dragon Ball was held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. 1,000 guests, including leading politicians, business elites and community leaders attended this glamorous event.
Known for its unique culinary experience, this year’s Dragon Ball menu was specially designed by Hong Kong’s “Demon Chef” Alvin Leung, who was recently crowned 3-Star Michelin chef.
The fusion menu and “X-treme” cuisine included Lo Hei ( a combination of coleslaw with salmon terrine and preserved kumquat) and beef tenderloin with chocolate Bakkutteh sauce. Chef Leung also wowed the crowds during the pre-dinner reception by mixing ice cream with well-known Chinese liquors such as Moutai and “Rose Dew.”
One of the highlights of the gala was the feature performance by Teresa Carpio, Asia’s Queen of Song, and her Broadway musical singer daughter T.V. Carpio.
Over the last 25 years, the Dragon Ball has raised about $25 million for geriatric care and other services and programs for seniors, provided by the four Yee Hong centres in Scarborough, Markham and Mississauga. Today, Yee Hong is serving over 15,000 seniors and their families.
