Residents in Liberty Village were recently surprised to find a fake City of Toronto development sign showing an artist rendering of a second CN Tower sprouting up from the Cityscape and people on Reddit just can’t get enough of it.
“A change is proposed for this site,” reads the construction sign which looks just like the real mcCoy at first glance. “As part of its 2023 redesign, the City is planning to add a whole extra CN Tower to this sorry dump. Construction will soon begin and will likely commence by the time you finish reading this sentence,” the sign reads.
According to the original Reddit post by user Chalmy11, the “Sign added to this area that has been fenced off for potential construction for over six years.”
The Penta-Toronto imposter sign also includes hilarious details like the fact that it’s “very big” and that “a public meeting will be held after construction. “Resistance is futile, as per usual,” the sign goes on to say.

As expected, the reaction on Reddit was swift and scathing.
“The port lands soil is contaminated from industry. They have to scrape off the top layer and replace it all. Gonna take a while,” wrote one user.
“5 extra CN towers for each individual borough. Now we can all have CN towers without heading downtown,” wrote another.
Other hilarious details include the extra tower’s ginormous size — 1.5 kilometers — which is nearly three times the size of the CN Tower as well and a phony case number too.
And if people have any issues with this proposed new development, the sign is very clear.
“Got a problem? Fortunately, this new tower is objectively good. So you are the one who is wrong,” the sign reads.
