3 of the best viral moments from U.S. President Joe Biden’s recent visit to Canada

After a lengthy delay due to COVID, U.S. President Joe Biden recently made his first official trip to Canada, arriving in Ottawa last Thursday for a whirlwind trip that saw him meeting with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Along with offering Biden the opportunity to “to reaffirm the importance of the relationship and Canada’s status as an ally and an ecumenic partner,” the trip included a slew of viral moments that got people talking. Here are three of the best.

Biden mistakes China for Canada

While speaking on Canadian migration policies, Biden mistakenly praises China instead of Canada. “Today, I applaud China for stepping up,” he said before immediately correcting himself saying, “Excuse me, I applaud Canada. You can tell what I’m thinking  — about China. I won’t get into that yet.”

The motorcade crash seen around the world

While people lined the street to catch a glimpse of the 80-year-old President, one of the vehicles in his motorcade was seen (and heard) crashing into the car in front of him. “Way to go Ottawa police, show us Americans how much better you are at driving,” commented one Reddit user.

Biden trash-talks the Leafs

During his address to Parliament on Friday evening, the Pennsylvania native poked some fun at the Leafs. “I have to say, I like your teams — except the Leafs,” he told the crowd of MPs and other dignitaries. “They beat the Flyers back in January…I married a Philly girl. If I didn’t say that, I’d be sleeping alone,” he explained.
