Toronto police officers charged after booze stolen from station

Toronto Police Service has announced it has arrested and charged two veteran police officers with a number of offences related to missing alcohol.

According to a statement from TPS, it is alleged that on April 12, two officers arrested an individual on several outstanding warrants. During the arrest, two bottles of stolen alcohol were recovered from the individual. After returning to the 51 Division station, the two officers “were later seen taking the stolen items to their personal vehicles at 51 Division.”

After a search warrant was executive by TPS, “the stolen property was recovered from one officer’s residence and the other officer’s personal vehicle .

On May 2, two police constables, one with five and one with 27 years of service, were arrested and charged with the following:

  1. Theft Under $5,000
  2. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
  3. Breach of Trust

Both are scheduled to appear in court on Monday, June 12, 2023.
