Candlelit concert for Halloween

This haunted concert is happening at a historic Toronto church in time for Halloween

Experience spooky classical compositions this Halloween season in a 48-year-old Toronto church building bathed in candlelight.

Candlelight Halloween: A Haunted Evening of Classical Compositions will take place from Oct. 26 to 30, with two shows every night, at the Metropolitan Community Church of Toronto (115 Simpson Ave.).

The church will be lit with thousands of (flameless) glowing candles and the Listeso String Quartet will play haunting pop classics, such as “Thriller” by Michael Jackson, “This Is Halloween” from The Nightmare Before Christmas (Danny Elfman), “In the Hall of the Mountain King”,  “Hedwig’s Theme” from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, “Ghostbusters (Theme)”, “Beetlejuice (Theme)”, “Stranger Things (Theme)”. More classical hits will include “String Quartet No. 8 in C Minor (Dresden Quartet), Op. 110: II – Allegro Molto” (Shostakovich) and “Der Erlkönig” (Franz Schubert).

Each concert will last 60 minutes (doors open 45 minutes prior to the start time, as late entry will not be permitted). Patrons must be 10 years old or older and anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Tickets are CAD $30+ and patrons need to purchase a minimum of two tickets.

Seating is assigned on a first come first served basis within each zone (Zone A seating (premium visibility); Zone B seating (great visibility); Zone C seating (good visibility); Zone D seating (restricted visibility).

The event will be socially-distanced and patrons will be required to wear a mask for the entirety of the event.

In accordance with the new regulations by the Ontario government, it will be mandatory for all attendees to show a proof of vaccination along with a photo ID, beginning on September 22 (click here for more information on Ontario’s vaccination passport program).
