Toronto police are investigating after gunfire shattered the front windows of a restaurant in the city’s Annex neighbourhood late Tuesday night.
Officers responded to reports of a shooting near Davenport and Bedford roads just before 11:30 p.m. When they arrived, they found evidence of gunfire outside MIMI Chinese, a popular restaurant located at 265 Davenport Rd. Photos from the scene showed at least eight bullet holes in the front windows. Fortunately, the restaurant was closed at the time, and no one was injured.
Despite the damage, MIMI Chinese reopened on Wednesday evening. A written statement provided to CTV News read “Last night, our beloved neighbourhood restaurant was the target of a senseless and random act of violence. We are incredibly grateful that no one was hurt as we were closed at the time and no one was inside. We are fully cooperating with the police investigation and will continue to support law enforcement in any way we can.”
Police have not identified any suspects or a motive.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Toronto police or Crime Stoppers. The investigation remains ongoing.
