Break-ins on the rise in the Annex and Harbord village
Toronto Police Service (TPS) has reported a noticeable increase in residential break-ins in the Annex and Harbord village area, in recent weeks.
Unknown person(s) have gained entry into multiple residential homes through unlocked doors and windows, particularly on the ground floor. On some occasions, the suspect(s) entered even though the homeowners were inside. The items of interest for the suspects are small, expensive and easily concealable items such as cash, wallets, purses, credit cards, identification, jewellery and electronic equipment.
TPS has warned the public to lock their doors and windows, and anyone who sees someone or something suspicious is encouraged to call 911 immediately.
Man faces five charges after Mt. Pleasant–St. Clair shooting
A male suspect has been arrested after shooting a male victim in the leg in the Mount Pleasant Road and St. Clair Avenue East area.
On June 10, at approximately 9 a.m., three males known to each other were in a car together. An argument ensued between a 50-year-old victim and a 34-year-old suspect. It escalated to a physical assault, and the victim was shot in the calf. The victim was dropped off in the Mt. Pleasant and St. Clair area and taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
On June 12, the 34-year-old suspect surrendered at Toronto Police Service 53 Division, where he was arrested. He now faces five charges, including aggravated assault and discharge firearm with intent to endanger life.
