Justin Chien, who plays the lead character Charles ‘Chairleg’ Sun in the popular Netflix hit ‘The Brothers Sun’ was spotted in Toronto this past weekend, leaving more than a few fans starstruck.
Chien was in town for the Canadian Chinese Youth Athletic Association’s (CCYAA) fourth celebrity classic basketball game — a non-profit that aims to raise money for sports programs and community initiatives for disadvantaged youth across the GTA. The event was organized by Toronto-raised actor Simu Liu (known for ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’, ‘Barbie’, and ‘Kim’s Convenience’) and point guard Jeremy Lin, so there were more than a few celebs to look out for at the tournament.
“Thank you to all of our sponsors, amazing celebs, our NBA legends @jasonwilliams55 @mattbonner_15 and @dominiquewilkins21 and @jackhellooo, and for all who showed up to watch the show! What started as a simple basketball game has evolved into something truly transcendent and special. My heart is full and my legs are so very tired!” Liu wrote in an Instagram post on Monday.

As first reported by View the Vibe, Chien took in the game at TMU’s Mattamy Athletic Centre before heading to Lao Lao Bar, a Laotian restaurant at 5 St. Joseph St., near Yonge and Wellesley. The star can be seen taking pictures with fans, fraternizing with the staff, and even cooking in the kitchen!
“Of course Chairleg found his way to the kitchen,” the restaurant wrote on their Instagram page on Monday.

Before leaving the city, in his Instagram storey, Chien thanked “The Six” and said that “Toronto has been amazing”. “I hope to come back soon,” he wrote.
Other celebrities have been spotted at Lao Lao since it opened last year March, including Academy Award winner Michelle Yeoh, who was spotted at the restaurant in January while filming a new Star Trek project.
