Female wanted on nine charges, including assault, assault with a weapon and aggravated assault

Toronto Police have released a photo of a woman they say is connected with two separate assaults on the TTC over the last few months.

The first violent incident occurred on the afternoon of Dec. 2, 2022, when a woman onboard a subway train at Bloor Station assaulted an individual.

And on Sunday, March 26, police say a woman was on a TTC bus in the area of Keele St. and Donald Ave. when she stabbed another passenger. According to the police report, the male victim suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police have identified the suspect as 29-year-old Nimo Umar Gayad of Toronto, and have asked that anyone with information on her whereabouts should call Crime Stoppers.

Gayad is wanted on nine charges, including three counts of assault, one count of assault with a weapon and one count of aggravated assault.

Police say that she should be considered “armed and dangerous.” “If located, do not approach and call 9-1-1.”

According to date release by the transit commission in February, violent incidents on the TTC have increased by more than 60 per cent since 2o19.

Former police chief and current mayoral candidate Mark Saunders took to Twitter on Monday to express his concern.

Police are also asking anyone with information on her whereabouts to call them at 416-808-1200 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS.
