Inside look at NHL hockey star Connor McDavid’s stunning fairy tale Muskoka wedding

Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid may have lost in the Stanley Cup finals but he’s winning when it comes to love. The 27-year-old wed his gorgeous fiancée Lauren Kyle late last month in a beautiful wedding on Lake Muskoka, which is about a two-hour drive from Toronto.

Lauren recently posted pics of the happy event to Instagram.

“Married the love of my life and it was the most perfect weekend I could ever imagine!”

The 28-year-old interior designer told Vogue that the couples’ favourite place is their Muskoka cottage as being on the water is peaceful and calming. Not surprisingly, the cottage was where Connor proposed to her.

One day last summer, Connor told her they had a charity event at a golf course in Muskoka to attend. As they headed to the event, they stopped at their cottage to drop off their dog.

“…to my surprise as we got out of the car there was a trail of flowers leading us to a beautiful set-up on the deck,” Lauren said. The couples’ favourite song, “Only Love” by Ben Howard was playing (which also became the first song they danced to at their wedding), and that’s when Connor proposed!

“Excited to see what our future holds. You are the most loving, passionate and amazing person. I am a very lucky man,” Connor wrote in an Instagram post last June after he proposed.

The wedding day took place on July 27 this year at Old Woman Island—a beautiful 16-acre private island property with lodge accommodations off the shore—but the overall affair was a 10-day production that involved four events in different locations. As the island is boat-access, everything down to the smallest details was planned accordingly.

According to Vogue, the festivities kicked off with a rehearsal dinner that was hosted on a converted steamship that sailed the lake. The ceremony had an ‘old world’ theme, so guests strolled in wearing old money-themed wedding attire. Lauren sourced vintage trinkets that she displayed on their tablescape, and her mom arranged old vintage framed photos of their grandparents’ wedding photos around the boat.

Lauren stunned in a vintage Ralph Lauren dress from the spring/summer 2007 collection, adorned with Tiffany & Co. jewellery.

For the welcome dinner the following night, Lauren wore a contemporary Danielle Frankel strapless Yara gown, as she wanted to present a mix of classic and custom looks. The satin gown was adorned in a soft tulle overlay and decorated with chantilly lace appliques.

The couple wed at the lakehouse, and the ceremony was held on a floating dock above the water. Lauren walked down the aisle in a striking Vivienne Westwood Couture gown, a dress she described as “timeless and elegant” yet still had “a touch of sex appeal”.

For the first part of the afterparty, Lauren changed into a vintage Chloé dress sourced from Chloé’s spring/summer 1998 presentation (when Stella McCartney was creative director) before switching to another version of the dress created by Annie Ibiza.

The couple danced the night away, marking the end of the festivities and the perfect beginning of their married life!
