York Regional Police have released a video and are seeking suspects and witnesses following a drive-by shooting in the Town of Schomberg.

The incident took place on Sunday, Feb. 12, according to a YRP that stated police responded to reports of a weapons call after a male was shot on Centre Street between Rebellion Way and Church Street. When officers arrived, they located a 65-year-old male victim who has been transported to hospital with serious gunshot injuries.

The township of King released its own statement following the incident:

“The Township of King is shocked and saddened following the drive-by shooting of a 65-year-old man in Lloydtown, near Schomberg, on Sunday, Feb. 12. We send our prayers for the quick healing of the man who was injured, and for his family and friends,” the statement read, in part.

“Our community continues to suffer through this terrible ordeal. Violent acts such as the one that took place on Sunday are not expected and will not be accepted. York Regional Police are taking this incident very seriously. The Township is helping share information with the community through the Township’s communication channels.”

According to YRP, the victim was walking his dog when the car sped passed at a high speed on a normally quiet residential road.

“The victim gestured at the vehicle,” explained YRP. “The driver then turned around and drove back to the victim. Multiple gunshots were fired from the vehicle and the man was struck several times.”

Police stated that the vehicle was a white SUV and that at least two suspects were inside and fled the area travelling west on Centre Street following the incident. The King statement said “police are looking for a man with light brown or tanned skin and a white SUV, possibly a four-door Lexus RS-350 thought to be involved in the shooting.”
