Acadia to close, re-open as Red Sauce

News broke today that Acadia will close its doors on December 31, but fans of the restaurant will be happy to hear that owners Scott and Lindsay Selland will be opening something new in its place: Red Sauce.

Lindsay Selland says that they felt Acadia had run its course, and they wanted to go out on a high note. "We wanted to stay up to date with what we're passionate about," she adds. What can you expect from Red Sauce? The same standards, but more casual and approachable, with food that leans towards Italian American cuisine. The restaurant will welcome young families with a kids' menu, and the space will be extensively renovated. Red Sauce will not be accepting reservations.

If all goes according to plan, Red Sauce will open for a two-day preview on January 27, 2014, allowing diners to experience the new restaurant's menu at a special discount of 50% on the food. The restaurant's hours will be 11 a.m. – 2 a.m., and the change-up will see them serving from lunch to late-night, and offering much of their menu to take away.

Dishes will include chicken, veal and eggplant parms (available on a roll, as a hero, or on a platter), "old stove" calamari, mini calzones, and wings agrodolce.

The cocktail program will feature 12 cocktails, all priced at $9, and will include Negroni on draught. They're also planning an in-house soda program, and a partnership with Flying Monkeys on a signature Red Sauce Ale.
