A Toronto woman is offering a $10,000 reward to anyone who finds her missing cat. In an Instagram post, Amelia Maltepe, a local real estate investor, said that her car ran from her house last week Tuesday at around 11:30 a.m. near Spadina and Davenport, in the Casa Loma area.
“$10,000 REWARD to bring Mika home,” Maltepe wrote in an Instagram post last Friday. “Mika ran out of the house this past Tuesday March 5th in the Casa Loma area. If you see him, please take a picture (or video) and direct message me on instagram right away and PLEASE DONT CHASE HIM. Please follow him until we arrive, so we can capture him and bring him home safe.”

Maltepe got her now nine-month-old brown-spotted Savannah cat about three months ago. In an interview with CP24, she said her cat escaped after a worker at her home left a door slightly open. Mika shimmied through the open door and ran away.
She is urging people not to chase Mika, noting that he can be skittish and will likely run off. She said people should instead follow the cat at a distance and call her at 647-640-9527, so she can retrieve him.
“We’ve been looking day and night everywhere. … He’s smart, but I think he’s very, very scared,” she said on Tuesday morning,” Maltepe told the publication, adding that if Mika isn’t found by Sunday, she plans to increase the reward. “I don’t care about the money. I just want Mika back!”
The Savannah cat is a hybrid cat breed—a cross between the African serval and a domestic cat. These cats are typically tall and lean with long legs, prominent ears, and a spotted coat. They’re known as the world’s tallest domestic cats and are pretty pricey. A first-generation Savannah cat costs about $16,000+, while second- to third-generation Savannahs will set you back between $3,000 and $6,000.
