AlpenFury roller coaster at Canada's Wonderland

A roller coaster reaching terrifying 115 km/h speeds opening at Canada’s Wonderland

Canada’s longest, tallest, and fastest dual-launch roller coaster is coming to Canada’s Wonderland in 2025! Details about “AlpenFury”, which has been under construction since March, were released on Thursday — and it looks like it will be a huge draw for the theme park. The ride will feature two launches — one beginning with a launch that blasts your train vertically through the mountain summit (50 metres into the sky) and another into the depths of Wonder Mountain.

The train races 1,000 metres of track across the park, reaching speeds of 115 km/h, flipping and twisting through nine inversions — the most in North America for a launch coaster.  It can take 18 riders per train and the ride will last 1 minute and 20 seconds.

Other ride elements include “The Fire Serpent Roll ”, where riders will twist and invert through “weightlessness” and two unparalleled train-to-track near-miss interactions in a single element. The Skyflyer Loop will feature an “ascending helix that crests into a zero-G stall” before diving into a descending roll, while the Ice Winder Roll twists and then untwists riders in two inversions as they ascend and descend through a hill.

“AlpenFury is a world-class attraction, and we’re excited for the unique thrills it will offer our guests,” Phil Liggett, general manager of Canada’s Wonderland, said in a statement. “The combination of being blasted out of Wonder Mountain, and then racing through nine inversions one right after the other, is going to be an experience guests won’t soon forget.”

AlpenFury, designed by amusement ride manufacturer Premier Rides, will be the theme park’s 19th roller coaster and the fourth to interact with Wonder Mountain. It’s expected to be a signature attraction in the park’s Alpenfest-themed area next year — this will be a sort of village that provides a festival atmosphere, where guests can celebrate “the mystical union of fire and ice”.
