After first opening as a menswear boutique at Bathurst and Wellington in 2005, Gotstyle soft-launched a new unisex location in the heart of the Distillery District late last year, with a grand opening planned for spring 2013.
Housed in a historic building from the 1800s, the shop is expansive, with the retail space consisting of two floors and 6,700 square feet. Décor has been taken care of by The Design Agency, complete with wood floors and exposed brick walls.
The second floor is where most of the fun currently takes place. There, soon-to-be-wed men and their respective wedding parties will want to check out The Groom Room, where patrons are encouraged to play pool and help themselves to the complimentary bar. Cigars by Mombacho are also available as wedding gifts. Booked by appointment, The Groom Room is designed to go beyond the normal suit rental experience.
The location is currently awaiting an influx of new merchandise, but Gotstyle still boasts a fine collection of wares, including labels such as Tiger of Sweden, Ted Baker London and John Varvatos, along with a few novelty items, such as flasks by Liquid Courage that are adorned with gentlemanly moustaches.
In addition to men’s clothing, this location houses women’s fashion as well, with labels such as Malene Birger, Rachel Roy and the Designers Remix Collection. A woman’s Circle of Gentlemen navy blazer caught our eye, boasting a high collar with interesting fluorescent lining, ticket pockets and embroidered buttons ($750).
There’s more to come, too: the plan is to open up a barber shop and a tailor inside the store.
